Peter Wallace – awarded life membership on 12 March 2023

LIFE MEMBERSHIP POLICY

Dynamic Running Ltd. may confer Life Membership on a person under the Dynamic Running Constitution Rule 10.2. The Constitution takes precedence over this Policy in the event of any inconsistency.

“Life Member” means a person who has been appointed by the Dynamic Running Board as a Life Member of the Association for outstanding service. A Life Member will have the right to attend and speak at all meetings of the Association.

PRINCIPLE

Life Membership is generally reserved for those whose contribution goes beyond the ordinary, or even the excellent, for an extended period of time. It is generally conferred on a person who has rendered distinguished or special service to the organisation. The most frequently used criterion for life membership is length of service. Persons may hold roles of limited tenure and yet perform outstanding meritorious service during their term of membership. Under these circumstances other criteria will be used to determine whether the person is deserving of nomination for Life Membership. Such criteria will relate to the quality of the service performed by the person under consideration.

DYNAMIC RUNNING LIFE MEMBERSHIP CRITERIA

The awarding of a Life Membership is a prestigious honour. The following criteria may be used to determine the suitability of a person for nomination for Life Membership of Dynamic Running Ltd. While it is not necessary for all the criteria to be satisfied, some at least must be considered.

The Nominee must have demonstrated:

  • Significant, sustained and high-quality meritorious service enhancing the reputation and future of Dynamic Running.
  • Ten (10) years of service to Dynamic Running in a volunteer capacity which has contributed to the benefit of Dynamic Running. This service need not be continual.
  • A distinguished or special service to Dynamic Running.
  • Significant volunteer contribution in an official role such as coaching, support crew or board member.
  • Such other criteria as the Dynamic Running Board deems fit, which may include such things as:
    • Outstanding leadership qualities in many areas of the sport.
    • Exceptional service by the Nominee, over and above the routine performance of any role.
    • Innovative practice: such as reviewing and modifying existing processes and/or introducing new ideas which significantly improve Dynamic Running.
    • Increasing the participation of the sport of running by engagement/representation/advocacy with key stakeholders and peak bodies.
    • Extraordinary efforts of the Nominee resulting in an unquestionable benefit to Dynamic Running.
    • General contribution (including fund-raising, supporting and other issues that the Dynamic Running board may see as relevant)
    • Advancing the profile of the sport of running by effective promotion and recruitment which provides observable results.
    • Enthusing others to implement appropriate ideas.
    • Enhancing communication with the general body of members.
    • Holding, in the opinion of the Dynamic Running Board, good standing within Dynamic Running and the wider community.
    • An alignment of the Nominee’s values with the core values and culture of Dynamic Running.

While a reasonable length of time (to be determined by the Board) of service is important, the overall riding criterion is the quality of service.

A member of the Dynamic Running Board may not be selected to receive this honour during their term on the Board.

OTHER FACTORS TO BE CONSIDERED:

Each Nominee will be considered individually on their personal attributes and achievements and not in competition with other nominees.

PROCEDURE

The decision to award a new Dynamic Running Life Membership will be made by the Dynamic Running Board with an unanimous vote.

Any adult member of Dynamic Running may recommend a person for nomination as a life member. This must be seconded by another club member.

Nominations close two meetings prior to the Annual Members’ Meeting, to allow enough time for a decision to be made by the Dynamic Running Board.

Nominations must be submitted to the Dynamic Running board via email using this nomination form. Nominations will then be placed on the agenda for the next scheduled Dynamic Running Board meeting for consideration.

Any new Life Member approved by the Dynamic Running Board will be announced at the Annual Members’ Meeting.

Note that it is not necessary for Life Membership to be granted each year.

NO RIGHT OF APPEAL

Decisions of Dynamic Running Board in regard to Life Membership decisions will be final.

NUMBER OF ANNUAL LIFE MEMBERSHIPS

A maximum of four Life Memberships will be presented in any one year.

REVOCATION OF LIFE MEMBERSHIP

The Dynamic Running Board reserves the right to revoke a Life Membership in circumstances where the Life Member’s continued association with Dynamic Running might harm its reputation or the actions and behaviours of the relevant individual are deemed by the Dynamic Running Board to be detrimental to the honour of the running community more broadly.
